The Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) held a really fun double celebration at the lovely organic West Town Farm in Ide, recently - to mark both its silver anniversary and launch the 2017 Devon Environmental Awards.
The DEBI Awards 2017 launch event was co-hosted by the charity OrganicARTS, which won the ‘Enjoyed in Devon’ category at last year’s awards. The scale of the event showed how DEBI has grown from strength to strength over the past quarter of a century, and JPA is proudly associated via our office manager who is on DEBI’s board as its marketing lead.
Guests at the launch included past award winners who spoke about what it had meant for their companies to win. The message was clear: gaining an accolade had boosted business, raised company profiles and created a real feelgood factor.
Its annual awards ceremony at the Met Office in November is the highlight of the DEBI calendar. The awards recognise the efforts by individuals and organisations of any size to operate in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner. In addition, each year puts the spotlight on a special sub-theme: this year, it is ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’.
Entries are drawn from across the private business, public sector, community or education arenas, throughout the county. This year, they can be submitted until 5.30pm on 15 September.
